Business
Seagen Inc. is a biotechnology company that discovers, develops, and commercializes monoclonal antibody-based therapies, primarily antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), for the treatment of cancer. The company offers ADCETRIS (brentuximab vedotin) for Hodgkin lymphoma and systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma; PADCEV (enfortumab vedotin-ejfv) for urothelial cancer; TIVDAK (tisotumab vedotin-tftv) for cervical cancer; and TUKYSA (tucatinib) for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer and colorectal cancer; along with a pipeline of investigational ADCs and immuno-oncology agents targeting various solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. Seagen operates globally, with products approved in more than 65 countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, and European Union members, and serves pharmaceutical partners through ADC technology licensing and co-development agreements with companies such as Takeda, Astellas, and Genmab. Founded in 1997 as Seattle Genetics and renamed Seagen in 2020, the company is headquartered in Bothell, Washington. In December 2023, Pfizer Inc. completed its $43 billion acquisition of Seagen, integrating its ADC portfolio and pipeline into Pfizer's oncology division to double the combined oncology programs to 60 and accelerate development of next-generation cancer therapies. This strategic transaction, one of the largest in biopharma history, positions Pfizer to leverage Seagen's proprietary ADC technology for enhanced targeted treatments while contributing anticipated revenues of $3.1 billion in 2024 rising to $10 billion by 2030 from Seagen's products. Seagen's operations now support Pfizer's focus on oncology across breast, genitourinary, hematologic, and other cancers, with ongoing clinical trials expanding ADC applications.
