Business
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TXN), founded in 1930 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, designs, manufactures, tests and sells analog and embedded processing semiconductors that serve as essential building blocks for electronic systems worldwide; its Analog segment provides power management solutions including battery-management systems, DC/DC switching regulators, AC/DC converters, linear regulators and lighting products, alongside signal chain components such as amplifiers, data converters, interface products, motor drives, clocks and sensors, as well as high-performance analog items like high-speed data converters and precision products; the Embedded Processing segment offers microcontrollers, digital signal processors and applications processors for industrial, automotive, personal electronics, communications equipment, enterprise systems and calculators; additional offerings encompass digital light processing (DLP) technology for projectors, scientific calculators and application-specific integrated circuits. The company operates 15 manufacturing sites globally, with approximately 34,000 employees across the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe, serving over 100,000 customers and producing tens of billions of chips annually. In recent developments, Texas Instruments finalized a $1.61 billion CHIPS and Science Act funding agreement in late 2024 to support an $18 billion investment through 2029 in three new 300mm wafer fabs—two in Sherman, Texas (SM1 and SM2, producing 65nm-130nm chips, with SM1 entering initial production) and one in Lehi, Utah (producing 28nm-65nm analog and embedded chips)—as part of a broader $60 billion commitment announced in June 2025 across seven U.S. fabs at three mega-sites in Texas and Utah to enhance domestic supply chains for customers including Apple, Ford, Medtronic, NVIDIA and SpaceX, aiming to internalize over 95% of manufacturing by 2030.
