He was at least last quarter with disca shares into the spinoff, the disclosure docs came out last night

One of my favorite stocks, had it since DISCA. Cost basis is a little high at $28 but I plan on buying more WBD. I have loved HBO since The Sopranos/The Wire and still find good things on HBO Max. While Netflix is just full of garbage. WBD is a buy!

Bought more WBD today. $28 average now, trying to lower it! Was my DISCA before that.

Retard stripper in 2007: i used my house i bought with a ninja mortage as collateral to buy another and used that one to buy another... I own 27 houses.

U/controlthenarrative: worked out RH calculated margins incorrectly and went infinite money glitch on it and yolo'd on AAPL earnings. Guh.

Huwang: used my 1bn to borrow 10bn. Used that 10bn to borrow 10 from one bank, then another, then another. Yolo'd onto DISCA and VIAC. Was unhappy with 36bn gains, held til carried out in cuffs.

Its the same retard over and over again.

I bought 100 shares of DISCA before it converted to WBD because wife and I are 90 Day addicts and Discovery+ is our most used streaming service by far.

That decision has been... not great so far. It was over my cost basis for a total of one whole day since the merger.

The 100 shares of WBD that I bought as DISCA less than a month ago sure are aging like a fine milk.

Wife and I are 90 Day Fiance addicts and I thought it would be a pretty decent buy because Discovery+ is the streaming service we watch the most by a pretty big margin. Was literally only green for one day, right after the merger went live.

Thanks CNN+.

"Any thoughts regarding a good time to look at buying some streaming services? "

If people want to play for a short term bounce maybe they get something there but not interested in buying streaming services. Is Netflix still a tech company or is it increasingly going to be looked at more like a traditional media company reliant upon hits/misses? If the latter, VIA and DISCA have been lousy for years.

"It seems to me that Disney may be at rock-bottom"

I don't know that it has but I remember when Disney+ was announced in 2018 and Disney shareholders were thrilled at the potential growth driver/Netflix competitor. Now Disney shareholders watching concerned as NFLX annihilated - content spending for Disney+ no longer sounding like such an appealing idea. Disney is going to do fine over time probably be around forever, but streaming is not the thesis it was a few years ago.

It was DISCA until the T-DISCA merger, now it’s WBD.

T bundled (ha) a lot of its debt with its HBO/TWC assets it gave to DISCA. Nevertheless I’m bullish.

My only gripe was that the HBO Max app sucks, but they updated it a day or two ago and now it’s on par with Netflix.

I think the AT&T spinoff broke JPM Chase website. They can't update any of my stocks this morning. But If I add up $T, $WSB, and $DISCA, it's some nice gains overall.

Ha. I never noticed how close that was.

The class K shares were cheaper than class A (Disca) or B, as they had no voting rights. In the end they are all worth the same now, so glad I went with DISCK.

Have a question on DISCA, but post is deleted. Could anyone give a hint? I'm holding DISCA $20 Jan 2023 call. Discovery is expected to complete merger in April, perhaps next week. Afterwards it will be WarnerBros.Discovery instead with a ticker changed(?) to WBD . If I did hold stocks - those would be 1:1 swapped to WBD. But what about options? Will my leap be repleced with a leap for WBD or it will be paid loosing the extrinsic and DISCA delisted?

DISCA/DISCK finally bounced 5%. $T is up 2%. Maybe that means this WB/Discovery merger is finally close to being done. I bought $DISCA yesterday, but I am waiting to buy more $T after the merger.

Here is a link to my purchase of between March 26 and April 2 of 2020: https://ibb.co/JrhYv1z

- 400 shares of disca at 20.8,19.9

- 200 shares of twtr at 26.6

- 800 shares of mrna at 29.6

- 130 shares of intc at 55.5

- 300 shares of hpq at 15.2

- 100 shares of abt at 78.3

The combined value of those positions went up ~50-60% between March and June. I later bought another $50,000 worth of stocks in early April which consisted of dis, tsm, spce, and tsla.

I added to $PSX which is down over 5% for some Oil reason. I opened a position in $DISCA which will be $WBD since it is taking longer than expected for the WB/Discovery merger from AT&T.

$T-W is trading at $18.13. This is AT&T without the WB assets. $WBDWV and $DISCA are trading around $24.30 down over 5%. It looks like the funds are selling $WBDWV and buying $T.

$DIS has some of the best IP ever in Disney Princesses, Star Wars, and Marvel and yet they f.uck it all up. If you want exposure to streaming buy $PARA or $WBD/$DISCA.

Disney really needs to also stay out of politics and social issues. I don't care what side of the aisle anyone is on; but as a corporation you stay out of politics. Why alienate a percentage of your potential customers?

Buy AT&T tomorrow unless you only want the WB assets. If you only want WB assets than buy whichever of $DISCA, $DISCK , or $WBDWV that is cheaper today. You are not going to get fractional shares of $WBD for every dollar that isn't convertible into a full share and that cash is going to be tied up for 10 days and there are a lot of $T stockholders with fractional shares because most of us reinvest the AT&T dividends.

Hold both and buy whatever dips. I am thinking $WBD will dip at open cause boomers and fund guys will realize $T dividend will be higher than $VZ after the split/merger. $WBD has a WAY higher ceiling but $T is trading at a 20% discount to Verizon. This merger has been a cancer on both $T and $DISCA. Now that it's over both will rally to at least $PARA and $VZ levels.

AT&T share price will go down. If we are getting 24% of $DISCA shares than hypothetically $T will drop by 24% and the shares of $WBD or $DISCA/$DISCK will go up because billions of AT&T shareholder dollars will be buying into $WBD or the old $DISCA/$DISCK). I am expecting both stock to rally HARD. But I am also hopeful that the $WSD shares dip at open as the boomers and funds sell the WBD stock to compound their divys in more $T stock.

I completely agree. In hindsight I should have DCA into this trade buying either $DISCA or $DISCK over $T since it was announced; but I have had AT&T stock for years. If you look at streaming content, $DIS calling card is Disney Princess, Star Wars and Marvel. Well WB has DC Comics and all the WB Movies. If you add in the Discovery content now you have a vastly superior library quality wise over $NFLX with quality equaling Disney Plus. But the quantity of content is equal to Netflix. It's all going to depend on how WBD markets and sells it's content. I am really hoping for only 1 or 2 streaming options. If WBD offers just a ad free and ad supported streaming package including HBO Max and Discovery content they will steal away Netflix's market share. Plus the valuation of $DISCA is HALF that of Netflix.

So AT&T and $DISCA merger is tomorrow. I am going to have some cash on hand to buy whichever dips tomorrow. A 24% haircut to $T should bring the stock price down to around $18.24. If I take the new dividend amount of $1.11 and divided it by $18.24 that equals a 6% dividend. I wonder if some boomers and funds will sell their WBD stake and reinvest into $T to compound their divy's?

Also a heads up. Ticker symbol $WBDWV has begun trading today. This will be the new $WBD stock I believe. It's up 2.5% and trading at the same price as $DISCA and $DISCK.

Just a heads up. The $T and $DISCA split/merger is tomorrow April 5th. AT&T stock holders will get one day only to sell $T and keep the WBD shares or sell the WBD shares and keep $T. Be prepared for the most volume in one day in AT&T stock ever.

If you take a liking to PARA you should probably look into DISCA, somewhat of the same situation but with several catalysts that are likely to drive the stock price up in the following couple of quarters. I would probably invest in PARA if DISCA wasn't a thing.

No, its an estimate. .24 of a DISCA share. Right now that's $6.35. Since its tied to a stock price it will fluctuate. So it can be an arbitrary amount like ATT is one day $20 put and its now a 13.65 put.

The basics are for a $20 put, is I have the right to sell 100 shares of ATT at the strike of $20 up until expiration. I've been through some splits and reverses and there ends up being some weird stuff, like instead of a 100 shares its 66 share contract.

So post transaction does it become a contract where I can sell 100 shares of ATT and 24 shares of DISCA combined $2000 ? That makes the most sense.

BOA did a report a few months ago on Discovery and basically said it's an exceptional deal. I think there's pretty big upside if you buy shares now, and wait to get the new shares in the new company. The new institution I think will be very profitable. Just make sure you buy the Disck shares not the disca shares since it is slightly better value for the new shares. I actually have about 10% weight of my portfolio in Discovery. I also own Paramount which is a great acquisition target. There's a huge about of value in original content, especially for companies like netflix, amazon, apple, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if one of those companies buys paramount. I think Discovery is a solid like 1-2 year hold, just have to wait for the new institution to get set-up and up and going.

WSB mods dont like people posting about Discovery Channel stock. Ticker Disca and Disck. If you want a good stock to gamble on lets get it here. Discovery is merging with Warner Bro to form Warner Bro Discovery. No one is talking about this yet. We are early to the party lets get it. Only 6,769 follows on stocktwits compared to 235,270 followers for GME. Do your research and get the word out. This thing is going to be huge and is super cheap. If you try to post anything to WSB about Discovery and or the merger with Warner Bro it gets taken down. Its really kind of weird. So lets get the word out some how.

Most of fang+msft outside of Netflix. Specialty retailers, disca, dis, pypl. A lot of small caps that got decimated but earnings and growth are strong. Would be weary of commodities and oil/gas.

I always like semi and semi suppliers as well but could be a bust cycle coming but still good long term.

I was pulling I think ~12% Div yield on T buying at $21/share. Good stuff. Of course that will be cut if and when they split off TWC assets to DISCA but DISCA should offer decent growth while T ought to see more optimism from paying down of debt and continued subscriber growth.

DISH has been on my watchlist for a few years now.

I've come to the conclusion that its Spectrum is worth more than DISH's enterprise value. The FCC does not seem to want an existing carrier to buy them, but rather wants a fourth carrier.

I'm actually very surprised a non-phone company maybe like an Intel, Google, or Comcast hasn't purchased DISH already.

I really can't figure out if DISH is a value play or a value trap.

Dish partnered with Amazon, but amazon has been known to screw over its partners, so I don't know if the Amazon partnership is good or bad for DISH shareholders.

VZ and T both look cheap, and I estimate returns above 10% going forward. DISCA Discovery, Inc. also looks cheap.

TMUS, I'm having a harder time trying to value.

The payment processors V, MA, are just too profitable. I suspect there will be competition soon that will destroy interchange fees. Maybe from like a cell phone app.

What I want with the phone carriers is that spectrum moat limiting competition.

Discovery - Disck Call debit spread buy the $30 call Ex Jan 2023 sell the $40 call Ex Jan 2023. This has went up pretty constant since i bout it even tho the stock hasnt always moved in the right direction. Debit spreads tend to increase in value as the IV goes up. I think this spread is golden. Check it. Call debit spreads in DiscA and DiscK expiring Jan 2023 and expiring Jan 2024.

I think Call debit spreads are the best 'safe; way to make a lot of money on LEAPS. Everyone should look into them.

It's tough. Personally I think their investments into original content are insane and they would've been way better off consolidating the sector.

They could buy DISCA for the price of this year's content. An all stock offer would save them the cash and likely lead to an increase in stock price because it's such a sensible move.

the deal is that t was to get 71% of the new company and disca 29%. since disca owners were only entitled to this stake, you can assume the value of the new company will track disca market cap divided by 29%, right now that equals $48b. t is entitled to about $34 billion of that. the value per share as a t owner can be estimated by dividing that $34b by the number of t shares.

I’m not disagreeing with you, just stating that there was a lot of confusion around what T holders were going to get out of the spin off. After reading through all the other posts in this topic, some also make it sound like DISCA/DISCB & DISCK are getting there shares converted on a 1/1 basis. I realize that Disc has a smaller MC, and are no longer going to be holding disc shares, so that makes sense that they would get a 1/1 ratio.

$DISCK and $DISCA sure trade at a steep discount valuation wise compared to $NFLX. This is a speculative bet but I own the other side in $T and have been very optimistic about a HBO Max / Discovery streaming service which I think has the potential to outperform Netflix. This is a HUGE speculative bet though. The added debt will pressure the new HBO Max / Discovery stock.

Yes, Discovery shares of all classes will be converted to 1 share of WBD. This is why I've been buying DISCK, as it trades cheaper than DISCA because it has no voting rights but will still be converted 1:1 to WBD shares with full voting rights

So AT&T shareholders will receive 0.24 shares of the new Warner Bros. Discovery stock for each share owned.

Does anyone know know what DISCA shareholders would get? Would it simply be 1 DISCA share = 1 Warner Bros. Discovery share?

Logic check please:

So T is roughly trading at $24.

T shareholders get 0.24 of a DISCA share (the merged entity share essentially).

So $7 roughly of consideration per T share.

$24-$7 = $17 Reduced Value of T Stock post distribution.

Yield Prior to Deal = 2.08/24 = 8.66%

Yield after Deal = 1.11/17 = 6.5%

Seems like a disproportionate cut to dividend, unless it was coming regardless of demerger?

Any reason you chose those over DISCA? DISCB has so little volume it's probably not worth exploring.

Agreed! I also like that you picked DISCK over DISCA.

Idk why I’m so shocked DISCA dropped 9% today. Who the fuck subscribes to discovery plus? Verizon plan offers it to me for free 6 months and I still haven’t taken the offer.

Seriously at least hwang bought viac and disca, which are low multiple content producers. Netflix is still expensive.

Because a hedge fund can decide to pump up a relatively small cap stock with ease and proceed to dump their bags

Because momentum traders/algos tail stocks which have a known tendency for retail to pile on when the price starts moving

DISCA and VIAC were pumped by a single person its trivial for a hedge fund to start buying on leverage and pump GME

Ok I’ll admit it: I am leveraged to the tits on China tech and $DISCA longs because I think everything has been exaggerated and the Fed won’t match expectations but I’m scared they might.

Every cuck here pretending to know what the future holds as if this weren’t a BETTING sub. If I had to guess I’d say 65% chance bears are super fucked for a month and 45% I will have half my savings left tomorrow

I would look into their peers which mostly got unfairly sold off with the Netflix drop. Disney, VIAC, DISCA/T, etc. These new streamers like Paramount+, HBO, etc are pulling subs from Netflix. Don't discount the huge rise in ad-supported channels like Pluto as well.

ROKU also benefits from increased churn and growth of ad-supported networks (they get 30% of all ad inventory, and 30% signup bonuses).

The CEO remuneration of $DISCA is 247 million/year. Few companies in the industry pay such a level. Does the company pay its executives too much?
