Description

The amount of lease payments that a company has to make within the next 12 months or the current fiscal year, whichever is longer, for assets that are leased under a finance lease arrangement. A finance lease is a type of lease in which the lessee assumes substantially all the risks and rewards of ownership of the leased asset. Under a finance lease, the lessee recognizes the leased asset and a corresponding lease liability on the balance sheet. The lease liability is split into short-term and long-term portions based on the timing of the lease payments. Short-term finance leases are recorded as a current liability on the balance sheet and are subject to interest charges.
