Chevron Corporation Chevron Corporation is a multinational integrated energy company engaged in every facet of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration, production, refining, transportation, marketing, and chemicals manufacturing; it produces and markets crude oil, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, marine and aviation fuels, lubricants under brands such as Chevron, Caltex, Texaco, Delo, Havoline and Ursa, base oils, fuel additives, petrochemicals including ethylene, polyethylene, aromatics, styrenics and specialty chemicals through its Chevron Phillips Chemical joint venture, as well as renewable fuels, biofuels, hydrogen, carbon capture solutions and geothermal power. Founded in 1879 as Pacific Coast Oil Company and originally incorporated in 1906 as Standard Oil Company of California, the company, now headquartered in Houston, Texas after relocating from San Ramon, California in 2025, operates in more than 180 countries with key production regions in the Permian Basin and Bakken shale in the United States, Gulf of Mexico deepwater, Australia including Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG projects, Kazakhstan's Tengiz field, Nigeria's Niger Delta, Angola's offshore blocks, and Guyana's Stabroek Block following its transformative $55 billion acquisition of Hess Corporation Hess Corporation completed in July 2025 after arbitration resolution with ExxonMobil Corporation Exxon Mobil Corporation; this deal added a 30% interest in Guyana's prolific offshore assets holding over 11 billion barrels of recoverable oil equivalent, Bakken shale acreage, U.S. Gulf production and Southeast Asia natural gas, with integration yielding $1 billion in annual run-rate cost synergies by end-2025 and enhanced free cash flow growth into the 2030s. Recent developments include first oil at Guyana's Yellowtail project and sanctioning of Hammerhead in 2025, expansion of LNG supply agreements with China's ENN Global Trading, new exploration blocks in Peru and Guinea-Bissau, divestiture of Alaska's Kuparui and Prudhoe Bay fields to ConocoPhillips ConocoPhillips for $300 million in 2024, a workforce reduction plan targeting 20% cuts by 2026 to save $2-3 billion annually, resumption of Venezuelan operations under U.S. Treasury license in August 2025 after prior revocation, a $1 billion R&D hub called ENGINE launched in Bengaluru, India in October 2025, and initiation of a lithium brine project in Texas and Arkansas Smackover formation in 2025 to support lower-carbon initiatives alongside ongoing investments in fusion power, sustainable aviation fuel and carbon capture.
