Kinder Morgan, Inc. operates as one of North America's largest energy infrastructure companies, focusing on the ownership and operation of pipelines and terminals that transport and store natural gas, refined petroleum products, crude oil, condensate, carbon dioxide, renewable fuels, and other commodities. The company owns an interest in or operates approximately 83,000 miles of pipelines and 143 terminals, along with more than 700 Bcf of working natural gas storage capacity and renewable natural gas generation capacity of approximately 6.9 Bcf per year; its core products and services span natural gas pipelines for utilities, energy companies, and industrial users; products pipelines transporting gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and refined petroleum products at approximately 2.4 million barrels per day; crude oil and CO2 pipelines for producers and refineries; terminals handling chemicals, metals, ethanol, petroleum coke, vegetable oils, and renewable feedstocks; and energy transition ventures including renewable natural gas, carbon capture, and hydrogen initiatives. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, and founded in 1997 by Richard D. Kinder and William V. Morgan, Kinder Morgan conducts operations primarily across the United States and Canada, serving refineries, producers, marketers, distributors, and power generation markets including data centers. Recent developments include the January 2025 acquisition of a natural gas gathering and processing system in North Dakota from Outrigger Energy II LLC for $640 million, enhancing its Bakken footprint with a 270 MMcf/d facility and 104-mile header pipeline backed by long-term contracts; the acquisition of NextEra Energy Partners' South Texas assets for $1.815 billion to support gas supply for power-hungry data center markets; completion of SFPP East Line Expansion projects to Tucson, Arizona, in July and September 2025, adding capacity for refined products under take-or-pay agreements; announcements of major expansions such as the $455 million KinderHawk gathering system in the Haynesville Basin, the $250 million Texas Arkansas Power project with NGPL, and the $3.5 billion South System Expansion 4; a June 2025 partnership with Southern Company for Southeast U.S. data center gas supply; and a May 2025 deepened alliance with ArcLight Capital Partners on NGPL assets.
