Business
MidCap Financial Investment Corporation (NASDAQ: MFIC) is an externally managed business development company that provides senior debt solutions to middle-market companies across various industries; its core investments include directly originated and privately negotiated first lien senior secured loans, first lien unitranche loans, second lien senior secured loans, unsecured and subordinated debt, mezzanine loans, and to a lesser extent equities in private and public U.S. middle-market companies generally defined as those with EBITDA below $75 million. The company, founded in 2004 and headquartered at 9 West 57th Street in New York, NY, operates primarily in the United States and derives significant advantages from its affiliation with Apollo Global Management, Inc. (NYSE: APO) and its exclusive partnership with MidCap Financial, a leading middle-market direct lender managed by Apollo that originated over $136 billion in commitments since 2013. Externally managed by Apollo Investment Management, L.P., an Apollo affiliate, MFIC focuses on generating current income and modest capital appreciation through its regulated investment company status under the Investment Company Act of 1940. In recent developments, the company completed mergers with Apollo Senior Floating Rate Fund Inc. (NYSE: AFT) and Apollo Tactical Income Fund Inc. (NYSE: AIF) in July 2024, expanding its portfolio to $3.07 billion in investments at fair value and issuing a special $0.20 per share distribution; it amended and extended its senior secured revolving credit facility to October 2030 in October 2025 with a 10 basis point spread reduction, reset collateralized loan obligations for enhanced earnings power, and appointed Joseph Durkin as Chief Accounting Officer in September 2025.
