Rivian Automotive, Inc. designs, develops, manufactures, and sells electric vehicles (EVs), accessories, software, and related services to consumer and commercial markets worldwide. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Irvine, California, the company produces the R1T two-row five-passenger pickup truck and R1S three-row seven-passenger SUV on its R1 platform; the Electric Delivery Van (EDV) on the Rivian Commercial Vehicle platform in collaboration with Amazon.com, Inc.; and operates the Rivian Adventure Network of Direct Current fast chargers with access to Combined Charging System ports. Rivian offers FleetOS, a proprietary end-to-end centralized fleet management subscription platform; vehicle repair and maintenance services; financing and insurance; remarketing; vehicle electrical architecture and software development services; and in-house developed hardware and software platforms including software-defined vehicle updates. The company assembles vehicles at its Normal, Illinois manufacturing facility, with a 1.2 million-square-foot supplier park under construction nearby and an expansion to support up to 215,000 annual units; a second plant in Stanton Springs, Georgia breaks ground in 2026 for 400,000 annual units starting production in 2028, primarily for R2 and R3 models; engineering, R&D, and offices span the United States (Atlanta, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Wittmann), Canada (Vancouver), Europe (Amsterdam, Belgrade), and the UK (London). Rivian maintains strategic partnerships, including a joint venture with Volkswagen Group for software and electrical systems backed by up to $5.8 billion in investments, with $1 billion received in June 2025 following Q1 gross profit; advances its Gen 2 platform targeting 45% material cost reductions by 2026, positive adjusted EBITDA by 2027, and R2 midsize SUV launch in first-half 2026; reports Q3 2025 revenue growth of 78% year-over-year and $24 million consolidated gross profit; and schedules an Autonomy & AI Day for December 11, 2025.
