Business
Barrick Mining Corporation, formerly Barrick Gold Corporation, operates as a sector-leading gold and copper producer with a portfolio of high-margin, long-life mining operations and projects across 18 countries, including Argentina, Canada, Chile, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Jamaica, Mali, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Tanzania, the United States and Zambia. The company engages in the exploration, development, production and sale of gold, copper and silver; its principal assets encompass Tier One gold mines such as Nevada Gold Mines joint venture (61.5% owned, the world's largest gold mining complex), Pueblo Viejo (60% owned, open pit), Loulo-Gounkoto complex (80% owned, open pit and underground), North Mara (100% owned, open pit and underground), Bulyanhulu (100% owned, underground), Kibali (45% owned, open pit and underground), Porgera (47.5% owned, open pit and underground) and Veladero (50% owned, open pit), alongside copper operations including Lumwana (100% owned, open pit), Zaldívar (50% owned, open pit) and Jabal Sayid (50% owned, underground). Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Barrick Mining targets Tier One assets in the world's most prospective gold and copper districts, serving global markets with proven and probable reserves of 89 million ounces of gold and 18 million tonnes of copper as of December 2024. In recent developments, Barrick Mining finalized a $440 million equipment agreement with Komatsu in June 2025 for its Reko Diq copper-gold project in Pakistan, marking the first major mining equipment placement in Komatsu's Middle East territory and supporting Phase 1 construction with first production targeted for late 2028; the company also completed the sale of its Tongon gold mine in Ivory Coast to Atlantic Group in December 2025. On December 1, 2025, Barrick announced board authorization to evaluate an initial public offering of a new subsidiary holding its North American gold assets, including Nevada Gold Mines, Pueblo Viejo and the Fourmile discovery, retaining a controlling interest to unlock value amid record gold prices. These moves follow prior advancements such as the 2019 Nevada Gold Mines joint venture with Newmont and ongoing Reko Diq feasibility updates, alongside production of 3.91 million ounces of gold and 195,000 tonnes of copper in 2024.
