Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Natick, Massachusetts, the company provides vision solutions that detect defects, monitor production lines, guide assembly robots, verify product assembly, and track items; core products include In-Sight 2D machine vision systems, In-Sight D900 embedded deep learning vision systems, VisionPro vision software, DataMan fixed-mount and handheld barcode readers for 1D/2D codes and direct part marks (DPM), 3D vision systems and sensors, vision sensors, OEM embedded vision modules, barcode verifiers, and AI-powered optics components following the integration of Moritex. Cognex operates globally through offices in more than 20 countries across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, serving industries such as automotive, consumer electronics, logistics, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, aerospace, and semiconductor manufacturing with standard products, application-specific solutions, shipping and handling systems, and on-site support services. Recent developments include the 2023 acquisition of Moritex Corporation for approximately $275 million to expand optics capabilities and strengthen presence in Japan, which contributed to revenue growth in 2024 and is accretive to earnings in 2025; the October 2025 launch of the AI-powered Solutions Experience (SLX) logistics portfolio featuring three devices for barcode reading and item detection to target high-value logistics applications; and the introduction of OneVision, a cloud platform for AI vision tools.
