Business
DICK'S Sporting Goods, Inc. (NYSE: DKS) operates as a leading omnichannel sporting goods retailer, offering an extensive assortment of authentic sports equipment, apparel, footwear, and accessories through its network of stores, e-commerce platform, and mobile app; core brands and formats include DICK'S Sporting Goods flagship stores with specialty shop-in-shops for team sports, athletic apparel, golf, outdoor, fitness, and footwear, Golf Galaxy for golf equipment and services, Public Lands for outdoor gear and apparel, Going, Going, Gone! for discounted name-brand products, DICK'S House of Sport immersive experiential stores, Golf Galaxy Performance Centers, private-label lines such as DSG, Calia for women's activewear, and VRST for menswear, and GameChanger youth sports platform for live streaming, scheduling, communications, and scorekeeping. The company targets athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, teams, and families across the United States, with over 850 locations and five distribution centers supporting omnichannel fulfillment. Founded in 1948 by Richard Stack in Binghamton, New York, with a $300 loan from his grandmother as a bait-and-tackle shop, DICK'S Sporting Goods relocated its headquarters to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1994 and went public in 2002. In recent developments, the company completed its $2.4 billion acquisition of Foot Locker, Inc. in September 2025, creating a global leader in sports retail with enhanced access to international markets, sneaker culture, and Nike wholesale dominance while operating Foot Locker as a standalone unit; it led a $120 million funding round for Unrivaled Sports in May 2025 to support youth sports venues and explore partnerships; and continues expansion with next-generation 50,000-square-foot DICK'S stores, additional House of Sport locations, Golf Galaxy Performance Centers, and a new regional distribution center opening in 2026.
