Fortis Inc. operates as a diversified electric and natural gas utility holding company across Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean. It generates, transmits, and distributes electricity to approximately 452,000 retail customers in the Tucson area of Arizona, with additional natural gas and electric services reaching approximately 275,000 customers across other parts of Arizona through its UNS Energy subsidiary. The company manages an aggregate generating capacity of 3,442 megawatts within its Arizona utility, actively transitioning its energy mix, which includes 68 megawatts of solar and 250 megawatts of wind capacity. Fortis also oversees significant electricity transmission operations in the United States through ITC Holdings, encompassing over 26,100 kilometers of high-voltage lines spanning eight Midwestern states. In Canada, Fortis supplies electricity and distributes natural gas to approximately 1.3 million customers across 135 communities in British Columbia, managing about 51,700 kilometers of gas pipelines and 7,350 kilometers of power lines. It delivers electricity service to over 60 percent of Alberta’s distribution network, serving more than 603,000 residential, farm, and business customers. The company provides integrated electric utility service to roughly 277,000 customers on the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador, with an installed generating capacity of 145 megawatts, and serves the majority of customers on Prince Edward Island through Maritime Electric, featuring 90 megawatts of on-island generation. Additionally, Fortis offers integrated electric utility services in Ontario and holds interests in utility operations that serve customers on Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands and various islands within Turks and Caicos. Its portfolio further includes a 67 percent interest in Belize Electricity Limited. Fortis’s overall infrastructure network encompasses approximately 185,300 kilometers of electrical transmission and distribution lines and about 59,100 kilometers of natural gas pipelines. The company is deeply committed to a cleaner energy future, pursuing a 50% reduction in direct greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, a coal-free generation mix by 2032, and net-zero direct emissions by 2050. This strategy is underpinned by a substantial $28.8 billion capital investment plan for 2026-2030, aimed at enhancing grid resilience, expanding renewable energy integration, and driving sustainable growth. Established in 1885, Fortis Inc. is headquartered in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
