Business
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company manufactures and sells tires and related products and services for automobiles, light trucks, commercial trucks and trailers, aviation, motorcycles, racing cars, farm equipment, and heavy earth-moving machinery; it offers tire brands including Goodyear, Cooper, Kelly, Mastercraft, Mickey Thompson, and Roadmaster, as well as tire retreading, automotive maintenance programs, digital fleet monitoring platforms, and tire-related technologies such as run-flat and all-season designs. Founded in 1898 and headquartered in Akron, Ohio, the company operates manufacturing facilities in 21 countries across North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other regions, serving original equipment manufacturers, replacement markets, fleet operators, and consumers worldwide. In 2025, Goodyear completed the sale of its off-the-road tire business to Yokohama Rubber, the Dunlop brand, and its chemical business for total gross proceeds of approximately $2.2 billion to reduce debt under the Goodyear Forward transformation plan; it also invests $1 billion in global facility modernization, expands premium tire capacity by 10 million units, advances electric vehicle tire technologies like EQMAX with sustainable materials, and targets $1.5 billion in annual run-rate cost savings and 10% segment operating margins by year-end.
