Founded in 1906 and headquartered in Batesville, Indiana, the company operates through two main segments: Advanced Process Solutions, which offers material compounding and extrusion, material feeding and weighing, bulk material handling, dry material separation, plastics recycling systems, depositing, cutting and spraying solutions for bakery and confectionery, dough mixers and bakery processing equipment, ingredient automation for biscuits beverages pet food and pastries, portioning and processing solutions, and advanced mixing solutions under brands including Coperion, The Rotex Group, Herbold Meckesheim, Bakon, Diosna, Shaffer, Shick Esteve, Unifiller, and VMI; and Molding Technology Solutions, which delivers processing equipment systems and services for automotive consumer goods custom molders packaging construction medical and electronics applications under brands such as Mold-Masters and DME. Hillenbrand serves a diverse global customer base across more than 60 locations with approximately 8,200 associates and generates roughly $2.7 billion in annual revenue through its focus on plastics and chemicals recycling food and pharma other industrial automotive consumer goods and related end markets. In recent developments, Hillenbrand entered into a definitive agreement in October 2025 to be acquired by an affiliate of Lone Star Funds in an all-cash transaction valued at $32.00 per share, equating to an enterprise value of approximately $3.8 billion, with the deal expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2026 subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals. This transaction follows several years of strategic transformation into a pure-play industrial company, including portfolio reshaping through acquisitions such as the Schenck Process Food and Performance Materials business and Linxis Group SAS, divestitures like the Milacron injection molding and extrusion business, and investments to strengthen its industrial food equipment offerings and overall scale in durable plastics food and recycling end markets. Upon completion, Hillenbrand will transition to a privately held entity, no longer trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker HI.
