The company operates two main segments: Specialty Property & Casualty Insurance, which offers non-standard and preferred personal automobile insurance, homeowners insurance, commercial automobile insurance, and other personal lines through brands including Kemper Auto, Infinity Insurance, Kemper Personal Insurance, and subsidiaries such as Alliance United Insurance Company; and Life & Health Insurance, which provides individual life insurance, supplemental health and accident insurance, and limited group life and health products via brands like Kemper Life and subsidiaries including Reserve National Insurance Company and The Reliable Life Insurance Company. Kemper maintains a nationwide presence in the United States with concentrations in non-standard auto markets serving underserved customers, including Hispanic communities, and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, where it was incorporated in 1990 as Unitrin, Inc., before adopting its current name in 2011; the company manages approximately $13 billion in assets, services over 4.6 million policies through about 24,200 agents and brokers, and employs around 7,500 associates.
