Business
Lear Corporation (NYSE: LEA), founded in 1917 and headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, designs, engineers, and manufactures automotive seating and electrical systems for global vehicle manufacturers. The company operates two primary segments: Seating, which provides complete seat systems including frames, mechanisms, foam, trim covers, headrests, and advanced features such as heating, ventilation, massage, and posture-support technologies; and E-Systems, which supplies electrical distribution systems encompassing wire harnesses, terminals, connectors, junction boxes, and electronic control modules for power management, body electronics, and connectivity solutions. Lear serves major original equipment manufacturers across passenger vehicles, light trucks, and electric vehicles, with manufacturing facilities in 35 countries including the United States, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Brazil, and China. In September 2025, Lear expanded its partnership with Palantir Technologies to a five-year agreement, broadening deployment of Palantir Foundry, Warp Speed manufacturing operating system, and Artificial Intelligence Platform across its global operations to enhance efficiency, manage tariff exposure, automate workflows, and support its Innovative, Digital, Engineered and Automated (IDEA by Lear) program, which delivered over $30 million in savings in the first half of 2025. Earlier, in July 2024, Lear completed the acquisition of WIP Industrial Automation in Spain, bolstering its automation capabilities alongside prior purchases of ASI Automation, Thagora Technology, and InTouch Automation to advance next-generation manufacturing technologies and operational excellence.
