Business
The Middleby Corporation (MIDD) designs, manufactures, markets, distributes, and services commercial foodservice equipment, food processing equipment, and residential kitchen equipment worldwide. The company operates through three primary segments, offering a broad portfolio of innovative cooking, refrigeration, beverage, and processing solutions; key commercial foodservice brands include Blodgett convection and combi ovens, Taylor ice cream and frozen beverage dispensers, Pitco fryers, Follett ice machines, TurboChef speed-cook ovens, APW Wyott toasters and griddles, Southbend ranges and broilers, and beverage systems from Wunder-Bar and JoeTap; food processing provides industrial solutions for protein, bakery, and packaging applications such as Alkar, Maurer-Atmos, and CVP Systems; residential kitchen equipment features luxury brands like Viking ranges, AGA Rangemaster cookers, Kamado Joe grills, U-Line refrigeration, and Marvel. Founded in 1888 and headquartered in Elgin, Illinois, Middleby serves restaurants, quick-service chains, hospitality, healthcare, convenience stores, food processors, and high-end home markets across North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other regions. In December 2025, Middleby agreed to sell a 51% controlling interest in its Residential Kitchen business to 26North for $885 million enterprise value, retaining a 49% stake and receiving approximately $540 million in cash proceeds to support shareholder returns and growth initiatives while transitioning toward a pure-play commercial foodservice focus; the company also acquired Oka-Spezialmaschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG in 2025 to bolster food processing capabilities and announced plans for a Food Processing division spin-off in the first half of 2026.
