Business
Shell plc operates as a global energy and petrochemical enterprise, delivering its diverse offerings across Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas. The company organizes its operations through distinct segments, including Integrated Gas, Upstream, Marketing, Chemicals and Products, and Renewables and Energy Solutions. Its activities encompass the exploration and extraction of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. Shell is also involved in the liquefaction, marketing, and transportation of natural gas as liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the production of gas-to-liquids (GTL) fuels and other specialized products. The company manages extensive upstream and midstream infrastructure to facilitate the delivery of gas to various markets worldwide. Furthermore, Shell engages in the marketing and trading of natural gas, LNG, crude oil, electricity, and carbon-emission rights. It also offers LNG as a fuel for heavy-duty vehicles, serving a broad customer base. The company's operations extend to refining and trading crude oil and other feedstocks into a variety of products such as low-carbon fuels, lubricants, bitumen, sulphur, gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and marine fuel. Shell manufactures and sells petrochemicals for industrial applications, including base chemicals like ethylene, propylene, and aromatics, alongside intermediate chemicals such as styrene monomer, propylene oxide, solvents, and glycols. In its evolving portfolio, Shell is actively involved in generating electricity from wind and solar resources, producing and marketing hydrogen, and providing electric vehicle (EV) charging services globally, with an aim to significantly expand its network by 2030. The company rebranded from Royal Dutch Shell plc to Shell plc in January 2022 and moved its headquarters to London, United Kingdom. Established in 1907, Shell continues to pursue a strategy focused on delivering more value with fewer emissions, striving for a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050. Recent initiatives include significant shareholder return programs and investments in low-carbon energy solutions.
