Business
Solitron Devices, Inc. (SODI) designs, develops, manufactures and markets solid-state semiconductor components and related devices primarily for military, aerospace, defense, space, industrial and avionics applications. The company offers a broad portfolio of products including bipolar and metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) power transistors; junction and power MOS field effect transistors (MOSFETs); JFETs; diodes; rectifiers; voltage regulators; power and control hybrids; joint army/navy (JAN) transistors; dc-dc converters; half/full bridge circuits; motor controllers; IGBTs; power factor correction (PFC) circuits; chip carriers; hybrid microcircuits; rad-hard components; and next-generation multi-chip power assemblies incorporating silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies. Founded in 1959 and headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, Solitron operates a vertically integrated facility there for circuit design, wafer fabrication, assembly, packaging, testing and environmental screening, with certifications including MIL-PRF-19500 (JAN/JANTX/JANTXV), MIL-PRF-38534 Class H, AS9100 Rev. D and ISO 9001:2015; it serves customers in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Far East and Australia. In September 2023, Solitron closed its acquisition of Micro Engineering Inc., a Florida-based firm specializing in printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), surface-mount technology (SMT) and low- to mid-volume system-level manufacturing, enhancing capabilities in engineering, contract manufacturing and high-density modules. Through its Micro Engineering division, the company partnered with Avtec Lighting Solutions in July 2024 to produce LED aircraft cabin lighting systems following Avtec's manufacturing cessation. Recent fiscal performance reflects strong demand, with fiscal 2025 fourth-quarter bookings of $8.9 million including over $5 million from RTX for AMRAAM missile components and prior orders from L3Harris for HIMARS systems, alongside expectations for increased production of these defense programs.
