Business
The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR), founded in 1899 and headquartered in North Canton, Ohio, engineers, manufactures and markets a comprehensive portfolio of engineered bearings and industrial motion products worldwide. The company operates in two primary segments, Engineered Bearings and Industrial Motion, serving diverse end-markets including railroading, food and beverage, energy generation and harvesting, marine vessels, mining, agriculture, construction, civil aerospace, defense, commercial vehicles, automation, renewable energy and medical robotics across approximately 45 countries. Its core offerings encompass tapered roller bearings, ball bearings, spherical roller bearings and related precision-engineered bearings; gear drives including Philadelphia Gear and Cone Drive brands; automated lubrication systems such as Groeneveld and BEKA; belts, chain and couplings under brands like Diamond, Lovejoy and Nadella; linear motion products including Rollon and Nadella; industrial clutches and brakes; filtration systems via Des-Case; sealing products; and a spectrum of powertrain rebuild, repair and industrial drivetrain services. The company's strong brands also include Timken, GGB, Drives, CGI and Lagersmit, with products designed for high reliability, efficiency and performance in demanding applications. In recent developments, Timken completed the acquisition of CGI Inc. in September 2024, adding precision drive systems for automation and medical robotics with approximately $45 million in annual sales; acquired Des-Case, Rosa Sistemi, Lagersmit, American Roller Bearing, Engineered Solutions Group (iMECH) and Nadella in 2023 to bolster industrial motion, linear motion, filtration, seals and engineered bearings capabilities; and on December 1, 2025, Timken India Limited finalized its acquisition of Timken GGB Technology Private Limited shares from Timken Europe and the parent company to enhance product portfolio rationalization and operational efficiency in self-lubricating bearings and seals. These strategic moves support ongoing global expansion, cost-reduction initiatives targeting $75 million in 2025, and an "80/20 mindset" focusing on high-margin verticals amid resilient financial performance, including 2.7% sales growth to $1.16 billion in Q3 2025 driven by pricing, currency benefits and acquisitions.
