Westlake Corporation (NYSE: WLK), founded in 1986 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, manufactures and supplies basic chemicals, polymers, and fabricated building products essential to consumer and industrial markets including housing and construction, packaging and healthcare, automotive, and consumer goods; its two primary segments, Performance and Essential Materials and Housing and Infrastructure Products, produce polyethylene for packaging, film, containers, and pipe; polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins and compounds for pipes, windows, siding, flooring, wire and cable, medical devices, automotive applications, and consumer products; chlor-alkali products including caustic soda and chlorine for water treatment, disinfectants, and chemical production; and fabricated items such as residential PVC sidings, trim and mouldings, architectural stone veneers, decking, roofing tiles, PVC pipe and fittings for municipal water, sewer, plumbing, irrigation, and industrial uses, landscape edging, matting, and marine dock edging. The company operates approximately 100 facilities employing 16,000 people across North America, Europe, and Asia, ranking as the largest U.S. producer of low-density polyethylene and second-largest producer of PVC pipe in North America. Recent strategic developments include the August 2025 agreement to acquire the global compounding solutions businesses of Portugal-based ACI/Perplastic Group, adding specialty PVC, polyolefin, silicone, and thermoplastic rubber compounds for wire and cable applications with operations in Mexico, Portugal, Romania, and Tunisia, expected to close in early 2026; a May 2024 announcement to build a state-of-the-art molecular-oriented PVC (PVCO) pipe plant in Wichita Falls, Texas, to expand pipe offerings; and ongoing sustainability efforts such as Westlake Vinnolit's 2024 awards for PVC decarbonization and delivery reliability from the Polymers for Europe Alliance, alongside EcoVadis Gold recognition for Westlake Epoxy.
