Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY), founded in 1900 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, owns or manages nearly 12 million acres of timberlands primarily in the United States and operates as a real estate investment trust (REIT) since 2010, focusing on sustainable timber management, wood products manufacturing, and real estate development; its core products and services include softwood lumber, engineered wood products such as oriented strand board (OSB), TimberStrand laminated strand lumber (LSL), and Parallam parallel strand lumber (PSL), pulp and cellulose fibers for paper, packaging, hygiene products, and filtration media, as well as logs for sawmills, renewable energy from forest resources, forest carbon credits, conservation banking, and commercial and residential real estate from timberland holdings. The company serves residential and commercial construction, industrial applications, paper and packaging manufacturers, and real estate developers across North America, with operations centered in the U.S. South, West, and Pacific Northwest regions. In recent developments, Weyerhaeuser completed timberlands acquisitions totaling $459 million in North Carolina, Virginia, and other high-quality areas during the third quarter of 2025 while divesting non-core assets for over $410 million in expected proceeds by year-end and early 2026 to optimize its portfolio; it broke ground in June 2025 on a new $500 million TimberStrand facility in south Arkansas, announced in November 2024, to add 10 million cubic feet of annual capacity starting in 2027 using southern yellow pine; and continues advancing portfolio growth toward its 2021 target through capital-efficient transactions, share repurchases, dividends, and operating improvements exceeding $117 million.
